Senior Account Manager (healthcare PR)

Remote (UK) | £45,000 + up to 10% bonus + £1,500 L&D fund | Full time

The Role

We’re a small, specialist healthcare PR agency looking for a dynamic Senior Account Manager who wants their work to make a real difference to health in the UK.

You’ll have excellent PR skills, including creativity, content, strategy and media relations, and a track record of delivering campaigns that build reputations and change behaviours.

You’ll have experience of healthcare and you’ll already have good relationships with the journalists and stakeholders who matter. You’ll also be used to the pace of agency life, able to juggle priorities and turn work around quickly, while at the same time maintaining high standards and keeping a clear focus on the end goal.

Just as important is how you work. You’ll build strong relationships with clients, colleagues and partners, who will respect your judgement and value your commitment, creativity and drive. We only take on clients who genuinely improve people’s health, so you’ll always know that your work matters.

Your Client & Campaign Work

  • Lead the day-to-day management and delivery of 4-5 healthcare client accounts, working alongside the MD to help health tech, med tech, charity and private healthcare organisations achieve their objectives

  • Work with the MD to develop insight-driven strategies and creative ideas, then take ownership of bringing them to life

  • Anticipate challenges, solve problems proactively and bring fresh ideas to clients rather than waiting to be asked

  • Create a broad range of content, including news releases, white papers, patient case studies, viewpoint articles, newsletters and social media copy, to a consistently high standard

  • Engage with national health correspondents, broadcast journalists and trade media on behalf of clients

  • Work with pace and conviction to deliver high-quality campaigns on time, effectively coordinating clients, partners and colleagues to achieve this

  • Prove impact through evaluation reports that show how we are increasing awareness, building authority and driving action.

Your Commercial & Agency Impact

  • Build strong relationships with clients by delivering great work on time and demonstrating expert knowledge

  • Proactively uncover opportunities for new projects, helping to shape recommendations and proposals with the MD

  • Support business development, including building relationships with prospects on LinkedIn and supporting pitches

  • As the agency grows, have the opportunity to take on line management responsibility for a future Account Executive.

The Person

Your Experience

  • Typically 5+ years’ experience in PR and communications, including at least 3 years in an agency and 2+ years working on healthcare accounts

  • Proven experience independently managing client accounts, ideally for 2+ years at Account Manager level or above.

You’ll bring

  • The ambition and drive to make your mark, taking ownership of your accounts, your results and your own development

  • The ability to produce outstanding work independently, using sound judgement and knowing when to seek input

  • The pace and conviction to move quickly without compromising quality

  • Real knowledge of the UK healthcare landscape, including the NHS, health policy, sector trends and media, and the ability to apply this knowledge confidently to client advice and campaigns

  • Strong media relationships, ideally including national health correspondents and healthcare trade writers

  • A track record of creative campaigns, and the ability to solve problems through structured thinking and creativity.

The Package

  • £45,000 salary

  • Up to 10% performance-related bonus

  • £1,500 annual Learning & Development fund

  • Dedicated development support from Leigh Greenwood, Chartered PR professional and Evergreen PR MD

Plus

  • 25 days holiday, as well as a bonus day off for your birthday and another between Christmas and New Year

  • Award-winning health and wellbeing plan from Equipsme, covering private GP, physio, optical and dental support

  • 50% of the cost of CIPR Membership and agency-held PRCA corporate membership

  • Quarterly in-person strategy and alignment meetings, which take place over two days in cities across the UK and are fully funded by the agency

  • Home office technology

  • NEST pension
