TWO trophies at the PRCA DARE Awards

We’re delighted to announce a double win at the PRCA DARE Awards for the North, after our campaign with the British Tinnitus Association won ‘Best Public Affairs’ and ‘Best Non-Profit Campaign’.

The Tinnitus Manifesto, launched in February 2020, combined a powerful central story on the emotional impact of tinnitus with manifesto calls that were informed by politicians, researchers, funders, patient groups and people with tinnitus. We then mobilised support through an online petition..

Key outcomes achieved by the campaign include:

  • Political commitment to review tinnitus funding levels - from Matt Hancock (Secretary of State for Health and Social Care) and Lord Bethell (Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department of Health and Social Care)

  • Media coverage in The Times, Daily Mail, The Independent, Daily Mirror and on ITV News

  • 115,000+ petition signatures

  • A scheduled roundtable meeting with the Department of Health and Social Care and the National Institute for Health Research to discuss this, at the request of Matt Hancock - plus a meeting with the Medical Research Council

The PRCA DARE Awards, by industry body the Public Relations Consultancy Association, strive to reward the very best PR and communications professionals across the UK, with the shortlists and winners agreed by a panel of highly-respected industry experts.

Tinnitus is an under-recognised condition that affects millions of people and which can have a huge impact on mental health. That’s why we’re calling for more funding, a better infrastructure and a focus on studies that will deliver the key foundational knowledge that is needed.

This is great recognition for the Tinnitus Manifesto campaign and for the work done by Evergreen PR to help us deliver such a successful strategy. We’re excited about continuing the hard work and doing even more to support people with tinnitus at this challenging time.
— David Stockdale, Chief Executive, the British Tinnitus Association

This was a wonderful campaign to be part of and we were incredibly lucky to work in partnership with our fantastic client, the British Tinnitus Association to deliver it.

The Tinnitus Manifesto is an important campaign because it brought so many people together under the common purpose of increasing funding for tinnitus research - an often under-recognised condition that can cause significant mental health challenges for the millions who experience it. Thanks to our strategic communications campaign, this cause is now firmly on the agenda of the most senior politicians and medical research-funders in the UK
— Leigh Greenwood, Managing Director, Evergreen PR

We’re delighted with these awards but also excited about the next phase of the campaign and delivering on the goal of increasing funding levels.
