Hidden Hearing appoints Evergreen PR to deliver national campaign tackling hearing aid abandonment
Healthcare PR agency, Evergreen PR, has been appointed by Hidden Hearing, one of the UK’s leading high-street hearing care specialists, to deliver a national PR campaign aimed at addressing the issue of hearing aid abandonment.
While there are around three million hearing aid users across the UK, around half never or only sometimes wear their device.
Evergreen PR will develop a strategic, consumer-facing campaign that explores why people give up their hearing aid and the impact this has - encouraging those who have stopped wearing theirs to give it another chance.
The campaign, launching this month, will be backed by a celebrity hearing aid user - who came close to abandoning her hearing aid - and a well-known TV doctor.
Hidden Hearing, which has over 300 clinics nationwide and supports over 100,000 customers every year, has invested in the campaign to raise awareness of the unmet need facing many people with hearing loss and to demonstrate its own commitment to best-in-class aftercare.
There was no competitive pitch, with the healthcare communications agency selected for its health-sector expertise and track record of delivering successful, award-winning health PR campaigns for organisations such as Tinnitus UK and the Royal College of General Practitioners.
Leigh Greenwood, Managing Director of Evergreen PR, said: “For years, campaigns focusing on hearing loss have centred on a person’s journey up to getting the hearing aid. We’re focusing on the equally important issue of what happens afterwards and how brilliant aftercare, like that provided by Hidden Hearing, can help people to adapt and get all the benefits they deserve from their investment. We’re excited to be raising awareness of the issue and contributing towards a solution.”
Denise Crane, Marketing Manager at Hidden Hearing, said: “Hearing aid abandonment is sadly too common. Through this campaign, we want to reach people who are struggling with their device and show them that, with the right support, they can successfully adapt and enjoy improved hearing, health and quality of life.
“I have been following Evergreen PR for a few years now and have long been impressed by their breakthrough campaigns that have drawn attention to important health issues. Their strategic approach, track record and meticulous focus on outcomes make them a brilliant partner for this much-needed, purpose-led initiative.”
